What is Hospice?
Hospice is a type of care, not a place where patients go to receive care. Hospice brings together medical and non-medical caregivers as needed to serve patients with life-limiting illnesses, usually within the final six months of life. Hospice care does not hasten death — instead, the goal is to manage pain and other symptoms to make patients comfortable, so they can live every remaining moment to the fullest.
Home Affords the Greatest Comfort
Interim HealthCare’s hospice team serves patients anywhere they call home. In-home care enables families to spend maximum time together, in comforting surroundings. Our holistic approach to care focuses on the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of each patient and their family. Because Interim HealthCare offers a full continuum of care options, our hospice care teams may include a physician, skilled nurses, home caregivers, a chaplain, and even specially-trained hospice volunteers.
Interim HealthCare's philosophy is family-centered and faith-based, which means we are dedicated to caring for all members of the family during a difficult season of life. Our team of compassionate professionals is here to assist with end-of-life care including comfort care, symptom management, and helping to improve quality of life. We also offer personal care services that can provide valuable respite care for family members. During a time that can be especially stressful, we help you and your family find the peace and comfort you deserve at the time you need it most.
We Honor Veterans Program
We Honor Veterans (WHV) is a program designed to honor veterans who have elected their hospice benefits. At Interim HealthCare we are honored to have earned the 3-Star Level of Partnership. The WHV program initiatives begin upon a veteran's hospice election and continue with the family throughout their journey on hospice. Some of our WHV initiatives include a special Veteran Welcome, Veteran Pinning Ceremony, Quilt of Valor, and our Veteran Memorial Flag.
Each healthcare journey is as unique as the individual and with our Bridge Program, we help you navigate the path. The goal of your Bridge Care Coordinator is to provide you with education regarding your options as health conditions change or decline and empower you to make decisions that are the right fit for you. A Bridge Care Coordinator can help facilitate difficult conversations and guide you and your loved ones through the process of making and communicating your choices.
Music therapy is the clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals by a credentialed professional.
Aromatherapy is a holistic practice that uses the "aroma" or scent of essential oils extracted from plants to aid in the relief of distressing symptoms and promote a sense of well-being.
Grief is natural, and although it can be natural to want to grieve alone, it can be far more comforting and beneficial to accept help and guidance from someone who understands.
Become a Hospice Volunteer
Serving as a hospice volunteer is an intensely rewarding experience. At Interim HealthCare, volunteers are at the heart of our service goal, and we encourage surviving family members, friends, and any of our neighbors within the community to participate. After receiving appropriate training, our volunteers can assist with:• Providing companionship to patients in the final months or weeks of life
• Offering support to families and caregivers therapists
• Helping in our office
• Helping with community outreach
